Talks Re-Open Between Rank and Gala Coral

The casino and bingo company Rank expressed an interesting in buying Gala Casinos in March 2012 but talks quickly were left blank after an issue of property leases came into view. However, almost two months later it would seem that talks have re-opened between Rank, who currently own the numerous land based Grosvenor Casinos and Gala Coral who have such names at Mecca Bingo under their belt.

 If this deal from Rank and Gala Coral were to pay off it would mean that Rank would become the leading casino operator in the UK. This would be because not only would Rank own over 30 land-based Grosvenor Casinos which it already does but it would also own the Gala Casino clubs. Therefore it would overtake the current largest UK casino operator Genting. Genting are currently in the lead in the UK as they own 44 land based casinos that operate in various towns and cities throughout the UK.

 No deal has been signed between the two companies as of yet, however it will be interesting to see if Gala Coral were to sign over the Gala Casinos to Rank what changes would be made.

 As there were various issues surrounding the talks between Gala Coral and Rank last time, it might be the case that the second time round each side might come to an agreement quicker, therefore it might be the case that we could be seeing Gala Casinos become part of the Rank Grosvenor Casino chain before we know it.

Grosvenor Casino Swansea Raise Money for Charity

Increase in New Customers at UK Casinos

Rank, which is a British gaming group, has reported this week an increase in pretax profit in the first half of its financial year. This profit comes from increase in new customers at its UK Grosvenor Casinos and also its Mecca Bingo halls. Raising money for charity is seen as a great way of helping others that are less fortunate than yourself. To add to that this cancer charity is a leader in research into the best care possible for people with terminal illnesses.

Gala Coral Casinos to be Sold

RANK, the owner of Mecca Bingo, is on the brink of buying a number of casinos from Gala Coral.
The £250 million deal would make Rank Britain’s biggest casino operator merging its 35 Grosvenor Casinos with the 24 outlets owned by Gala, Rank has already announced plans to have 45 Grosvenor outlets by 2015 but the deal could speed up the roll-out of its G Casinos which are aimed at a young informal crowed. The sale of the casinos would allow Gala Coral to concentrate on bingo and bookmarking, as well as strengthen its finances amid a net debt figure of £1,3 billion.

Rank is listed on the London Stock Exchange but is mainly owned by Guoco – the investment vehicle of Malaysian billionaire Quek Leng Chan. A deal could be completed before the company’s interim results on February 9.
