Great Yarmouth, known as Yarmouth to its locals is a famous
seaside resort that attracts numerous holiday makers each year. However, this
coastal town is set to grow in size even more as the plans to open a new casino
in Yarmouth will be reveal soon. The location, size and chosen operator of this
new Yarmouth casino will announced by the town’s borough council when they hold a meeting on the 27th
April.
There are two possible operators who are in contention to
open this new Yarmouth casino who are both local. These two contenders are
Albert Jones who is the Pleasure Beach boss and Patrick Duffy who is the owner
of another casino in Yarmouth the Palace Casino.
Mr Duffy has plans to extend his existing casino which is
already located in Yarmouth. If given the casino license he would provide a
3,000 floor space and up to 150 £4,000 jackpot gaming machines in a developed
called The Conge. In contrast to that the other contender, Mr Jones if given
the casino license would run the scheme called The Edge and it would consist of
a six-storey hotel, car parking, bowling, multiplex cinema, restaurants and
bars which would be located next to the Pleasure Beach.
The original plans to open a new casino in Yarmouth were
first bought around five years ago, however during the recession the idea of a
new casino in Yarmouth died away. It has taken nearly two years for the town’s
council to come to a decision on who should get the license and in a month’s
time the operator for this brand new Yarmouth casino will be revealed.
